Weekend Warriors Update for April
Suffice it to say, this past Weekend Warrior challenge was not all I had hoped it would be. But first up, I have a list of those who were participating, some of whom did MUCH better than me.
- Carla from The Right Fit
- Lauren from Less Lauren
- Scott from Minus 5 Times 10
- Marissa from Fatty Slims Down
- Sean from Learn Fitness
- Joey from Joey’s Health
- Joe from Joe the Runner
- Jeremy from Stellar Path
- Lynne from Losing Lynne
- Steve from 265 and Falling
- Erin from Erin Takes Control
- Frank from Male Weight Loss Now
- Dana from Eat Sleep Get Fit
- Jess from Half of Jess
- Craig from My Life, Take Eight
- CiCi from Too Flabby Dames
As for myself, basically, I had two fails and one success.
One – Weigh at least one pound less on Monday morning than I do tomorrow morning.
This one was a BIG fail. I don’t even want to say how much more I weighed on Monday morning, but it certainly wasn’t a pound less. Frankly, at this point, I don’t even know how I’m going to pull a loss out by Friday. We’ll see.
Two – Go to the gym at least twice over the next three days. I say this, because my gym is closed on Easter, but it’s open tomorrow and Saturday.
Fail. Well, partial fail. I went to the gym on Saturday, bright and early, but Tina and I were out all day on Friday, and we just didn’t make it to the gym. We were very active the whole day, but there was no gym time.
Three – I will go for a one hour walk on Easter. The gym may be closed, but that doesn’t mean I can’t get in some activity.
Finally! Success! However, I ended up going it alone, because Tina was fighting a pretty nasty stomach bug from Saturday night on.
So yeah, I’m going to give myself a D minus for April’s Weekend Warrior Challenge. I’ll just have to make sure that I do even better for May! (And chance of a Star Trek theme, Brandon?)
In other news, I’ll sure some of my good news. I’m getting an HD camcorder! I’m very excited about this, and I definitely plan to start incorporating some vlogging (even though that sounds very weird to me) in my blog. Hopefully, I’ll get the camcorder before the weekend.
Have any of you thought about doing any video blogging? Any advice?

D is better than my epic F!!!
Never done the video blogging….I’m scared to even try!

It’s all good, because we’re rebooting this weekend.
How exciting to get a new toy

It really is! I can’t wait!
Agreed! A D is much better than an F. Easter weekend is tough.
Thanks for commenting! Always glad to have a new face around.
And Easter weekend was tough. I’m looking forward to a reboot.
Can’t wait to see your videos! I myself am too shy to do something like that!
Thanks! I can’t wait to do them. I’m itching for my camcorder to show up in the mail!
Thanks for the shout out. I look forward to hearing how your video blogging attempts go – It is something I am mulling over as well.
Joe
I’m hoping I’ll have my first video post up in the next week or so. I’ve already got some ideas percolating.

Eh, don’t let it get you down too much. At least you’re aware of what you need to improve on for next time – and I’ll start thinking of ways to incorporate a Star Trek theme
Do you know what kind of HD video camera you’re going to get? Depending on what you want to do, and just how high of quality you’re looking for, I would highly recommend the Creative Vado. It’s very small and portable, shoots 720P, has 8GB of internal memory (enough for about 2 hours of video), and you can get one for only $135. For the kinds of stuff I use it for (mostly videos of my kids), it works great.

I’m a little leery of the truly handhelds. I think the one I’m going for is more camcorder-shaped, if that makes sense. I used a Flip a friend had last weekend, and I wasn’t too keen on it. I couldn’t make it hold still; it didn’t seem to have enough weight for me.
I second you on the Star Trek theme! Then June can be Babylon 5 (love that show) and July can be Battlestar Galactica!
Congrats on the HD camcorder. I wasn’t too enthused about them until I saw a bunch of people w/ them at Fitbloggin, now I want one!
And I wouldnt worry too much about the challenge either, Craigs right in that its better than an F and there is always next time

You just lost me for June and July. Now throw Buffy and Angel in there and we can talk.
I use a FLIP and I love it. My first vlog ever will be posted today. Other than my weird blinking, it’s a decent video.
As for the challenge, Craig is re-doing his this weekend. Steve and I are going in on it with him. Join us??? The Empire Strikes Back (again)!!! Whaddya say???
I can’t wait to see this blinky-gaggy apple-eating video.
Oh, and I am so in like Flynn for this challenge reboot.
We’ve got a Canon Vixia and we love it. It’s a little pricey but is so easy to use and takes great video. I’ve only done one video blog and it was fun.

Video quality is a big deal for me. I’m a photographer on the side, and I want to get into videography, so I thought I’d get something that would let me shoot decent HD video I could play with as well. I’ve even got a friend’s wedding coming up in June that I’ll be able to practice on.
I’m also a big fan of Canon. My DSLR is a Canon.
I love getting new gadgets. To be honest – I’m kind of jealous of your upcoming new toy.
I hope the re-challenge is better for you.
* is the journal book in process yet?

I really think all guys are gadget freaks to some degree. I think I hearkens back to getting toys in our childhood.
The journal is underway, but I need to write up a big post and see who is getting it next.
I am going to move my blog more into vlog’s also. Looking forward to your work. Thanks for posting your results for WWC April 2010.

No problem; and I look forward to seeing your vlogs as well.
Dude, the camcorder is going to be awesome! I am contemplating video blogging certain special events but have no clue how to do it. Definitely excited to be watching some fun Jeremy moments though!
I think you were too hard on yourself with the grading. You went to the gym once plus you were active Friday AND you walked Easter. That’s a great weekend in my opinion.
Keep it up Jeremy! I’m glad you’re back now
It’s comforting reading your posts again.
